It would appear that even though I uninstalled and re-installed some bits were still lurking about, because when I tried to download by visiting Google Maps download, my location map appeared but there were no command options and did not open any typed in addresses, so I installed a free trial version of Malware Bytes this cleared PUPs which done the trick, after rebooting and reinstalling every thing is working perfectly now google maps download for windows 10, hope this helps.

I am now having a problem setting it as my default for maps. I go to the appropriate default page but it won't let me change the application for Maps and I get the "Choose an app" and it only gives me the option of the windows version of maps.
